  3. This year's virtual Fan Media days are over so we now have some great content to share with you over the coming weeks. First, here's our interview with Chris McVeigh, designer of the Brick Sketches that we revealed last week, in which he reveals which one was the most difficult to perfect, which new parts have revolutionised their design and why the pens are not included in the sets. What did you think when Brickset revealed the sets last week? It was actually a complete surprise to me, because my understanding was that they were not going to be announced until later, after the fan media days. So I was just sitting here on the Thursday, when Tim from New Elementary messaged me to say that Brickset had posted pictures of them and I'm like, wait, what?! But, it was amazing. It's my first product launch so it’s such an exciting time! Seeing the reaction, which is very positive, and people being very encouraging is great! (It later transpired that LEGO stated the wrong embargo date in the email inviting us to receive them for review. -- Huw) Continue reading » © 2020 Brickset.com. [RSS]: Storage solutions: Baldarek

Baldarek in Russia shows how to store your LEGO on a budget: The first few submissions in this series of articles set what I consider to be a very high bar, so I'm a bit hesitant to follow them with my relatively modest collection and my, er, not exactly fancy-looking storage solution. Nevertheless, I think it would be interesting to take a look at a more low-budget take on LEGO storage. I've been a fan of LEGO for as long as I can remember, but it has always been a very expensive hobby for me. As a TFOL, I realised that I need to keep my collection organised, but I was reluctant to spend too much on fancy containers and drawers, preferring instead to save up for more LEGO sets. However, collecting LEGO meant that I had no shortage of cardboard boxes, so with the use of some sticky tape, glue, and a complete lack of DIY skills I was able to make my own storage solutions. Many years later, as an AFOL emerging from my LEGO 'dark age', I find myself still relying on those clunky homemade solutions a lot. They may look crude, but you know what they say, "if it looks stupid but it works..." Continue reading » © 2020 Brickset.com. Republication prohibited without prior permission. View the full article

Hello! For those that don't know me, I'm Huw's daughter, Alice. I manage the site's social media channels but over the next couple of weeks I'll also be taking a look at some of the new DOTS sets to keep me occupied during lockdown. Today I'm taking a look at 41914 Creative Picture Frames which, like 41904 Animal Picture Holders that MeganL reviewed last month, provides a way to attractively display photographs. Gabriel, aka Deathmoth, provides a detailed perspective on sorting that has not been represented yet: I’ve been building since I was very little (I’m in my thirties now), but only in recent years have I had some dedicated time + space for display and organising LEGO. My housemates and I are all freelance artists working from a shared home/studio. This particular area of the house’s lower level is multi-use but has gradually morphed from being less and less an office to more and more a LEGO room, particularly during quarantine. Nonetheless, it is a shared space, and our lifestyle in general is one in which I (by choice) never feel 100% settled at any given time. Continue reading » © 2020 Brickset.com. [RSS]: Review: 71718 Wu's Battle Dragon

70734 Master Wu Dragon was released during 2015 and remains exceptionally popular. 71718 Wu's Battle Dragon also seems impressive and shares numerous similarities with the previous creature, despite the considerable reduction in size and the modern fabric wings. However, the brilliant tendrils which decorated the earlier model have been excluded which is somewhat disappointing, given their unusual design. Nevertheless, I think the Battle Dragon looks magnificent and the exclusive Hero Wu minifigure seems particularly appealing, wearing heavier armour than many Wu minifigures. Второто е някакакъв изтребител, ръчичките са отзад и служат за управление на пламъците ;-) Това е творбата на 8 годишния батко. И в момента творят с лего, но се оказва, че ръчичките не са лесен елемент

    [RSS]: Storage Solutions: JukeLimited

Juke, aka JukeLimited, shows how he stores his collection in Arkansas: As the youngest of four kids, Lego sets were good (though expensive) toys for my parents to use to occupy us. We all seemed to enjoy the same themes and could rebuild the same collection of sets all day long, and these lovely plastic bricks last quite a long time if you care for them (and don’t lose pieces in the carpet!). So, while we didn’t have every set we wanted, new ones were picked up occasionally and now the family collection has grown quite large, at least for our standards. I have used one of the fantastic user-defined collection flags in Brickset to mark this shared family collection of sets that are still at my parents’ house. A saved query fetches sets with that flag; I have not marked them as owned since they are not in my collection and do not want them cluttering up my parts analysis. I can see that there are around 185 of these shared family sets waiting for grandkids or nostalgic adults to come along. Continue reading » © 2020 Brickset.com.
