However, the white colour scheme varies from the original LEGO Ideas project and has proven somewhat controversial. Fossils differ significantly in colour, according to their mineral content and preservation conditions, but the most famous dinosaur skeletons are traditionally pale brown. Tan or dark tan would probably be the most appropriate LEGO equivalents, although white matches the fossil casts which are often exhibited at museums. The model designer, Niels Milan Pedersen, mentions that altering the colour was necessary because retaining tan would have required too many 'special elements'.
