Brickset Публикувано Юли 7, 2022 Share Публикувано Юли 7, 2022 LEGOLAND Space sets were first introduced during 1978 in the USA and the following year in Europe, when a whopping 13 were revealed in the consumer catalogue. Galaxy Explorer was simultaneously launched in both markets in 1979, but with different names and numbers. It was common for sets to be given different names in different markets until the 1990s, and for a time in the 1970s identical sets were allocated different numbers as well. This particular set was marketed as 497 Galaxy Explorer in North America and 928 Space Cruiser And Moonbase in Europe. As was often the case, the US name is much cooler than the British one! In preparation for our review of 10497 Galaxy Explorer which we'll be publishing next week, I borrowed the original spaceship from local Brickset member scrawshaw to enable me to take comparison photos, so while I have it I thought it would be worthwhile taking a closer look at it.
