Interview with LEGO Star Wars design team

Brickset attended Fan Media Days last week and had an opportunity to speak with Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, Creative Lead and Design Director, Michael Lee Stockwell, Design Manager, and Madison O'Neill, Senior Graphic Designer, from the LEGO Star Wars team.

Our discussion addressed whether a mini-doll was considered for Taun We, the size of 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader and the response to 75309 Republic Gunship, as well as the possibility of further Prequel Trilogy UCS sets and more!

75335 BD-1 is our first set from Jedi: Fallen Order. What prompted you to explore the video game, after overlooking it in 2020?

Michael: We thought the content of the game was cool, so were immediately drawn to it, after release.

Madison: BD-1 in particular is just perfectly suited to our series of brick-built droids, especially since we could build him at almost life-size, which is always an attractive prospect. Whenever there is something well-received by the community, including something relatively unexpected, we are always open to responding to fans' wishes.
